Rules are meant for your safety and benefits. So even if you have a disregard for rules there are few legal considerations that you need to take into account before piercing your body.
- Body Piercing can be administered to person above 18 years old. In case of facial piercings i.e nose, ears, lip and eyebrows parent or guardian should accompany the piercee under 18 yrs.
- Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc., Act 1974 states that every employer or self employed person can carry his activities only on the condition that it does not risk the health and safety of persons who are not their employees.
- The Prohibition of Female Circumcision Act 1985 states that a person who “excises, infibulates or otherwise mutilates the whole or any part of the labia majora, labia minora or clitoris of another person” is guilty of a criminal offence. This might suggest that the piercing of female genitalia in the absence of a medical reason could be an offence under this Act.
