There are several guidelines for eyebrow piercing that, if followed, will prevent infections and allow your piercing (s) to heal correctly.
- In order to prevent any kind of infection always make sure you wash your hands and then touch the ring.
- Clean the piercing thrice a day. For this purpose you can use salt water. Make sure you avoid the eyebrow ring from being exposed to any kind of dust and any kind of pollutants. Also, clean the ring everyday.
- Take vitamin C (with doctor’s approval) to help fight off infection and to promote healing.
- Makeup carries bacteria and could help cause an infection. So, do not wear any kind of make up.
- Do not swim until the piercing is completed healed as tons of bacteria can be found in water and could cause infection.
- If you have a barbell, you can use a soft-bristled new toothbrush with hot water to brush off any crusting.
- Do NOT play with and/or twist your ring or barbell. You will only irritate the piercing, causing it to take longer to heal.
- Do NOT sleep with your face down. You could snag the ring, and your pillow is filled with bacteria.
- Continued redness or swelling means an infection is setting in. Return to your piercer immediately, or see a doctor.
- Wear a small accessory so as to permit any kind of drain from the area of piercing.
- Removing your jewelry prematurely can cause an infected hole to close up, trapping an infection and leading to complications requiring a medical professional.
- Replace your bedding with clean sets of sheets, blankets, and pillowcases as much as possible during the healing period.
For a happy Piercing experience do keep in mind the above tips.
