What is the History of piercings in female organs?

Among the females piercings have been popular since the primitive times. Most of the cultures still practice them and are testimony to it. The history of some of the piercings dates back in the Greek and the roman period. Piercings were done to flaunt the wealth of the upper class. Here are discussed some piercings in female organs that were popular in the olden times.

History of Clitoris hood piercing: -
“Kleitoris” is a Greek word that was used in ancient Greek over 2500 thousand years ago. It refers to the part of female genitals also known as Labia Minora. In the late 1500’s, it was considered to be the “devils teat” and females sporting this kind of piercing were accused of witchcraft. It 1615 it first appeared in English language as “clitoris”. And soon found place in the book of human anatomy of females.

History of infibulations-
This kind of practice was done by the Romans and was done with two piercings in the labia in the female with a lock or fibula placed in it.

History of nipple piercing-
By the middle of 14 Th century most of the females started wearing plunging necklines. These necklines were so low that one could easily see almost half the breasts. These kinds of dresses wear popular among the upper class. Later the queen Isabella of Bavaria brought a new range of garments with grand and elaborate necklines. And Till the navel the dress was open. This kind of fashion became a rage. The nipples were adorned with diamond rings or with small caps. Some of them even wore gold chains that passed through them.

In the late 1890’s the bosom ring came into existence. Though this kind of fashion lived shortly and the jewelry for them was usually bought from expensive Parisian jewelry shops. “Anneux de sein” were introduced through the nipples. It was worn on both the sides connected with a subtle chain. The rings enlarged the nipples. Many medical communities rejected these kinds of practices, as they believed that it was against the traditions to follow such kinds of practices in the female body.

The karankawa Indians of Texas once practiced these kinds of piercings. But in Algeria the nomadic tribe Kabyle still practices it. In today’s context this kind of piercing is popular among most of the celebrities.

Benefits of nipple piercings-
The only benefit of getting the nipples pierced is that it makes them larger and fuller. People find it more sexually attractive and works wonders for stimulation. It is very successful in increasing the size of the nipples.

History of navel piercing-
The history of piercings in the navel is relatively new. It has no connection with the primitive time or cultures. First kind of navel piercing was seen in London fashion show. Christy turlinton was first to sport one in the form of navel ring. Soon most of the celebrities and beauty queens jumped into the bandwagon and followed the same way.
