Will I Contract AIDS If I Get My Body Pierced

Posted on June 27, 2008 in Latest News

Do I have the risk of contracting HIV if I get my body pierced is one question that is frequently asked by many. The answer to this question is

Yes you have the risk of contracting HIV, if the instruments used for piercing the body are not sterilized or are contaminated with blood.

You have the risk of contracting AIDS if you have pierced your tongue, and have engaged in oral sex before the area around the piercing is not healed yet. This is especially true when the person you are engaging in oral sex has mouth sores.

These are two cases where one is most likely to contract AIDS, and other diseases like hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

If one ensures that the instruments used are sterilized and the piercing is done by an expert and is educated and is well aware of the pros and cons of piercing, there is nothing to worry.

Also, sex and deep kissing should be avoided until one’s tongue piercing is completely healed.

If one keeps the above two points in mind, the person has no risk of contracting AIDS.
