If you are a diabetic and want to get your body pierced here are some points you should keep in mind.
- Before getting yourself pierced tell the person piercing about you being a diabetic.
- Check your sugar levels before the piercing. If you have high sugar, your piercing may take a long time to heal and may develop into an infection.
- Stress levels also lead to high sugar levels, so make sure you are stress free before and after you have your piercing done.
- Take your insulin regularly. Do not stop for any reason. Even if you have a oral piercing.
- In case of high blood pressure one will urinate very often. You may urinate a lot of glucose and this may affect your healing period and cause an infection in your genital area.
- Any sign of pain, swelling or discharge at the piercing site should be reported to the doctor immediately.
