Piercing which is done between your eyes, in the center of the forehead is called the Third Eye piercing. It is a common belief that the center of our forehead consists the third eye. It is believed to be the spiritual center of our soul and lot of psychological awakening and realization occurs at the third eye.

Keeping this aspect in mind, most of them go for a third eye piercing. Some of them do it just for the heck of it, not knowing its significance.There are certain things one needs to know about the third eye piercing, as the skin on the forehead is a delicate one.

The piercing done at the third eye is most prone to wear and tear. There is a risk of the body rejecting the jewelry. One has to take lot of care when they get this kind of piercing done.

This piercing takes a minimum period of 8 weeks to heal. Sweat, dust, dandruff falling from the head is a major cause of infection and pus.

Also, one needs to be very careful when putting on their dress, as the piercing is likely to get caught in the dress.

Regular cleaning also is required. Do not keep touching and playing with the jewelry as it is likely to tear of from the skin.
