Why Do Piercing Migrate

One of the major risks of body piercing is “ Migrations Of  Pierced jewelry”

In such cases the body tends to reject the piercing as it considers it as an unhealthy threat. Slowly and steadily the pierced jewelry is pushed out. Also the piercing hole tends to enlarge continuously.

Some symptoms of Migration are

1) Soreness and pain in the pierced area.
2) The skin thins down enabling you to see the pierced metal.
3) The jewelry tends to hang loosely from the skin.
4) The hole around the piercing slowly enlarges.

Which Piercing Is More Prone To Migration ?

Surface piercing i.e. neck and eyebrow piercing is more prone to migraion. Also, those piercing that are not fitted into the skin properly and are superficially placed are most prone to migration.

Avoiding Migration

If the body finds the piercing to be a threat then a piercing, which is done with, utmost care and precautions is also bound to be rejected by the body. This however does not mean that one stops taking precautions, in order to avoid any form of risk, care should be taken that the piercing is deep fitted in the skin.

When Piercing Migrate

It would be best if the jewelry is removed and be replaced later on after two months with jewelry of another type.

Keep these points in mind and do not panic if your piercing migrates. Instead be calm and take the necessary precautions.
