The most major cause of infection is touching and playing with pierced jewelry with unwashed hands.

1) One should touch the piercing only after one has washed their hands.

2) Rinse the pierced area with saline solution regularly.

3) If there is any crusting or pus formation on the piercing clean it immediately with warm water.

4) Apply anti-bacterial cream on the piercing.

5) Alcohol and peroxide are strong solutions and should not be used to clean the piercing as it tends to dry the skin.

6) After exercising rinse the piercing.

7) If there is plaque formed on the jewelry, wash it away by scrubbing the jewelry with a old toothbrush.

8) Don’t keep pulling the scab around the piercing, this may cause infection.

Keep these points in mind and you will definitely have a safe piercing experience.
