Ear Piercing tend to catch infection when done in an unhygienic environment. The major risk of an ear piercing is the chance of contracting Hepatitis B. Therefore it is extremely important that one take immediate action against an infection.

Some steps one can take is

1) If you are allergic to a particular metal, there are chances of a risk of infection. Therefore, one has to be very careful.

2) Do not take out the earring or the piercing, as there are chances of you trapping the infection in the hole.

3) Infections occur when the piercing is repeatedly cleaned. Therefore keep the cleaning moderate, don’t over do it.

4) Sea Salt soaks also help reduce the impact of infection. Each soak should last at least 15 minutes.

5) Chances of infection can be completely cut down by getting one done in a hygienic place by a professional.

6) Wash your hands before touching the piercing.

7) Take precautions when having your shower.

8)  Do not press your ear hard against the pillow and don’t use headphones or cell phones until the piercing is healed.

9) Be very careful, when putting on your clothes.
