Here are some after care tips for genital piercing. It is very important that one take regular care of a piercing that is done in the genital area.
Some tips are as follows
- After you get a piercing done, there are chances of bleeding to occur in the first 24 hours. So don’t panic when it happens.
- During the healing period make sure you take showers instead of baths. Showers help wash away the crust around the piercing and also avoid infection, whereas in baths there are chances of soap water entering the genital area, which may cause infection.
- Do not touch the piercing with dirty hands. Wash your hands before you touch the piercing.
- When you get the piercing done make sure you are not suffering from any urinary infection as it may get worsened after the piercing.
- Pat dry the piercing with a paper towel, do not use towels, as they are breeding grounds for bacteria.
- Use panty liners if the piercing bleeds.
- Do not wear on pantyhose during the healing period as they tend to cut off the circulation and are very uncomfortable.
- Make sure the panties you are using are clean, so as to avoid infection.
- Make sure that no body fluids-semen, saliva etc to come in touch with the piercing in the first few weeks of the healing period.
- Avoid having sex, during the healing period to be on the safer side. It is not that you cannot have sex, you could but as the piercing is freshly done pressure on the genital area could cause pain. If you, still want to go ahead make sure a condom is used.
If you experience any kind of irritation contact your doctor immediately. Keep these points in mind and have a safe piercing experience.
