Taking Care Of Oral Infections

Posted on September 17, 2008 in Latest News

If you have an oral piercing done you need to take proper care so as to avoid any risk of infection.

Some precautions you can take to avoid infection are

1) Rinse your mouth with saline solution regularly. However, don’t overdo it or it will kill the natural bacteria present in the mouth, which are useful in healing the piercing.

2) Make sure you do not eat or chew solid food as it may lead to constant rubbing against the piercing and lead to swelling.

3) Make sure you tighten the screws of your oral piercing as you may swallow them by mistake.

4) Don’t keep rubbing your piercing against your gums as they may cause the teeth to chip off.

Since the tongue and gums are important and delicate organs, extreme care should be taken. Also it would be best if one avoided too much of smoking and drinking during the healing period as it may aggravate and increase the risk of infections.
