It is very important that one remove their metal piercing before they go in for an MRI. An MRI is a magnetic resonance indicator that helps give a view inside the human body and brain. It helps detect out if the body is malfunctioning in any way.
The MRI consists of a very important component called the magnet. And its pull is very strong, so much so if there are steel or any metallic objects they get pulled towards the MRI. In a MRI scanning room, no kind of metallic objects, pens, stools, etc are to be placed.
Individuals with pacemakers, chips in the brain or heart are also not allowed to do a MRI as it poses a great threat to them.
Moreover, individuals with any kind of internal or external piercing should remove their jewelry before getting their piercing done.
There is every risk of the metallic piercing tearing away from their skin, when the individual is made to do the scan.
For the scan the individual is made to pass through a highly magnetic scan, which detects the functioning of the cells. In the process if an unnoticed internal piercing is allowed to go through the scan, there is every risk that it will get torn away and stick to the magnet.
Therefore one needs to be very careful.
