Nape piercing is one that is done on the back of the neck, where there is enough tissue available o pierce. Curved piercing jewelry is used to pierce the back of the neck as they are less prone to migration and rejection.
Also, since nape piercing is a neck piercing, they need to be specially taken care of.
Care should be taken to see that cloths don’t get stuck in the piercing, and hands are washed before touching the piercing.
Also one should regularly apply anti-bacterial ointment and rinse the area with saline solution to avoid any risk of infection.
This piercing takes 8 weeks to heal; therefore extreme care should be taken during this period.
Avid fidgeting with piercing should be avoided to prevent the risk of suffering from an infection.

I thought that nape piercings had to be done with a surface piercing bar, not a curved barbell–one that looks like this– T….T in shape. Otherwise risk of migration and rejection is significantly higher.
