Neck piercing also known as Madison piercing is done at the loose flesh between the collarbones.
Since this is a surface piercing it takes 8 weeks to heal. One needs to be very careful while putting on and removing their clothes as the piercing tends to get stuck in the clothing and may lead to an infection.
Regular cleaning of the piercing is also a necessity, washing the hands before touching the piercing is a must. Regularly rinsing the piercing with salt solution and applying an anti-bacterial cream will help fight against any kind of infection.
Also using specially made surface piercing jewelry will help prevent any kind of risk from migration and rejection of the jewelry.
Though there will be slight inflammation and swelling initially with regular aftercare they will vanish.
Aftercare is very important for any kind of piercing.
