How Dressing Can Cause Infection Of The Piercing

Posted on November 12, 2008 in Latest News

The way you dress matters a lot after you get your piercing done. This matter holds true for every kind of piercing.

Tight clothing around the navel, nipple or genital area can prove to be very dangerous as it tends to cut of the air supply, a piercing newly done has to be once in a while exposed to air so that the skin around the piercing gets some oxygen supply.

Also, tight clothing reduces the flow of blood increasing the risk of infection. Constant rubbing may take place if the piercing is tightly pressed against the piercing causing the skin around the piercing to go sore and also there are chances of the cloth getting stuck in the piercing and being pulled away from the skin.

The way one removes their clothing also matters a lot. One has to be very careful in removing their clothes especially when having an ear piercing as the piercing most often tends to get stuck in the jewelry and faces the risk of being pulled away from the skin.

In case of a nipple piercing it would be best if women avoid lacy bras. As the piercing tends to get stuck in the lace and may cause lot of discomfort. The same goes with genital piercing too, lacy underwear should be avoided by both men and women at least till the piercing gets healed.

Keep these points in mind and ensure that you take every other precaution to ensure a faster healing.

It is better to be safe than sorry at times.
