Nostril piercing is a common piercing that one sees amongst women in Asia. However, this kind is gaining lot of importance in the West. Both men and women in the west are seen sporting a nostril piercing. Nostril piercing is become quite a fashion statement abroad.
The nostril is pierced anywhere along the curve, as this is the place where the cartilage is the thinnest. It takes 12-16 weeks for a piercing to heal.
Regular aftercare is required in order to avoid the piercing from turning into a infection. Some tips one can keep in mind are as follows.
One needs to apply an anti-bacterial cream and rinse the area with a saline solution at least twice a day.
Also, nostril piercing requires more cleaning as the inside of the nostrils tend to form mucous. Accumulation of this mucous over the piercing may lead to an infection, as it tends to block air and locks bacteria in the piercing itself.
Also, the nostril rings tend to accumulate lot of dust and sweat causing an infection to happen. The layer of oil on the nose may trap the bacteria, and there is a risk of the piercing turning to an abscess.
One also needs to be very careful while putting on and removing clothes. There are chances of the cloth getting stuck in the piercing and on pulling the cloth away the piercing can get torn away from the skin.
Also, one should be careful while sleeping. As there are chances of the piercing being rubbed on the pillow while sleeping.
All these tips when kept in mind will ensure that you have a safe piercing experience.
