The conch piercing is one that is done at the back of one’s ear. These piercing require a labret or barbell, which tends to bring about quicker healing of the piercing.
It takes nearly 8-16 weeks for the piercing to heal. Cartilage piercing requires a longer time to heal than any other type of piercing, as the cartilage is a very delicate structure.
Regular cleaning of the piercing, rinsing of the piercing with a salt solution, and anti bacterial cream etc is very necessary.
Also one needs to be very careful while sleeping. Many tend to sleep on their side unconsciously with the ear faced onwards; putting a lot of pressure on the pierced ear. This can be very painful and can lead to infection.
Also, speaking on the cell phone for long, with the mobile pressed against the ear can also lead to blockage of air and lead to an infection.
One needs to be very careful while putting on and removing clothes as there are chances of the cloth getting stuck in the piercing and being pulled of from the ear.
All these are some of the precautions one needs to take care of in order to prevent the occurrence of any infection.
