Any kind of piercing needs an aftercare. So it is important that you take a lot of care after you get a new piercing. Usually practitioners give a number of aftercare instructions, which should be followed religiously. But generally most of the people don’t follow what is been instructed to them. Either they forget them or they are too lazy to bother themselves. Well in this case, my advice will be, don’t neglect it and start taking proper care of your new piercing.
Things needed for New piercing Aftercare
There are certain things which you need for cleaning and taking care of your new piercing. They are:
- A washed cloth or a paper towel
- Cotton balls or cotton swabs
- Sea salt
- Small disposable cups
- Anti-bacterial liquid soap
Procedure to clean New piercing
- First and foremost, the most important thing to be followed is, washing your hands properly. Don’t ever try to touch your piercing and jewelry with unclean hands.
- Take a cotton ball, dip it into some warm water and apply gently around the piercing to clean any crusties that have accumulated in that area.

Next, apply some required amount of liquid wash on your fingertip, which should be applied on the piercing area and jewelry.

After applying the soap, wash it gently with warm water for several times. Make it sure that all soap is been washed out.

At last wipe your piercing with a paper towel and leave it to dry.
Tips for cleaning
- Many piercers may ask you to rotate your jewelry, which is not wrong. But it is better to avoid, as rotation may cause infection. So it is better to clean the jewelry and piercing part nicely.

Avoid using cloth towels that has been already used, as it may contain germs and bacteria. So it is safer if you use a fresh disposable paper towel.
