Body piercing is cool and trendy but also a little bit risky and harmful for your body. Before getting a body piercing one should understand about the risks that is has. It can cause many side effects, from allergies to bodily damage. So better know these facts and get ready to deal with any kind of side effects.

First and foremost prepare yourself to deal with infection caused due to piercing. Usually most of the professional piercers use antibacterial soap to clean the pierced area. It better if you ask the piercer if he is using any kind of solution or chemicals that you are allergic to.
- HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are some of the viral infections which can be spread through piercing. So better check out that your piercer is using disposable needles and sterilized, clean and well maintained equipments.
- Try to avoid swimming for a month after you get a piercing done. You can get infection with fresh body water like lake, pools, ponds, sea etc
- Avoid places where piercing guns are used for this process. Usually guns are not sterilized and cleaned properly, which may infect you with bacteria. So better go for a place where piercing equipments are properly sterilized and maintained.

Last but not the least there is also the risk of permanent damage to the nerves, nearer to your pierced place. Though it is generally seen in case of genital and tongue piercing but it is also possible for other type of piercing.
