Clear Piercing Retainer
The clear piercing retainer is meant to hide your piercing. Sometimes you may get a piercing in an inconspicuous place and may need to make it invisible to some members of society like parents, teachers, or employers.
Unfortunately, you can not wear a retainer during the first weeks of healing that may take up to six weeks. This will put you at risk of infections and this will not go down very well if the piercing is on your face or navel.
Once healed, the clear piercing retainers work best for the navel and nose piercings but leave a lot to be desired for the lip piercings. This is because it will only make it invisible from a distance but up close it will quite obvious that something is up. You can use it for the tongue too, here it will be less noticeable because your mouth is pretty much shut most of the time.
A piercing can get infected easily from any number of contaminations. To get one done and then have to struggle both with the minute treatment procedures coupled with hiding it seems a bit much. As a child, may be you could consider waiting till you do not live with your parents to get a piercing done. Alternatively you can try talking to them.
As an adult can see why you may need to hide this from your boss as some people are prejudiced against people they deem to be unserious, unprofessional or immoral and the piercing may degrade you to this status in their eyes.
Conclusion:
The truth of the matter is that a clear piercing retainer can not completely conceal your piercing. It may work great depending on the type from a distance and for really small piercings on the nose. Other than that, anyone who gets within a foot of you is most probably going to be able to see the piercing.
