Nostril piercing is the most common type of piercing after the ear lobe piercing. This type includes the cartilage and the skin part of the nose. It is usually done on the nose’s horizontal crease. These are the most common types and they are referred to as captive ball ring, captive hoop, or a ball closure ring. You can change them frequently whenever you get bored of wearing the same ring. The ball fits snugly into the piercing such that it does not fall. Beads are found in almost every color and shape.

 

Segment Ring

These are smooth rings for nostril and septum piercings. These make a perfect circle and are not decorated with beatifying jewelry like the beads. They are usually made from titanium.  It is available in acrylic, steel, silver, and gold. Generally, silver rings are not recommended as they can cause nose tissue scarring and irritation.

 

Circular barbell

These are usually used for septum piercing. Circular barbell is shaped in a half circle which is like a horse shoe, which is attached at the end of each circle. This ring is commonly seen on bulls and pigs. Circular barbells are also available in any color, shape and design.

 

Nostril screw

This is designed like a straight stem which turns at a right angle for forming a C-shaped curve. This is literally screwed into the nose. These are very safe to wear because they do not fall out easily like other nose piercing jewelry.
