Body piercing can also be described as the modification of the body. It entails the perforation of a section of the human physique and then placing and retaining an alien substance in the breach until the wound is cured.
There are diverse ranges of body piercing that are available. Some of the most popular forms are mentioned below.
Nostril Piercing
Nostril piercing is a body piercing tradition having its roots in India. In India the outer part of the left nostril is considered for piercing since it is believed to make childbirth less troublesome. Nostril piercing has gained in popularity in the western world over the years. The nose contains a number of nerves and hence nose piercing can be agonizing, though different individuals react differently to the procedure.
Earrings or ornaments worn on the ear are appended to the ear after a piercing is made in the earlobe or any other exterior portion of the ear. The commonly employed expression “ear piercing” is generally related to an earlobe piercing. Piercing in the upper segment of the exterior ear is generally described as “cartilage piercing.” Cartilage piercing is more complicated in contrast to earlobe piercing, and requires more time for healing.
Lip piercing entails piercing of one’s lip by means of stud (barbell or labret) or ring.
Usually the piercing is covered with an ornamental object. Generally a barbell made of a single ball is utilized for the purpose. Nowadays, an inert plug, captive bead ring or spikes are being used with increasing regularity.
The labret perforation is a comparatively simple process in which the lip is placed at a distance from the mouth by means of a clamp and a needle that is hollow is inserted commonly from the inside and surfaces outside. The ornament or jewelry is subsequently pushed into the rear portion of the needle. The needle is then detached and the jewelry fixed firmly.
Cheek piercing
Body piercing pertaining to the face includes cheek piercing. The center of your cheek is generally designated for piercing. It’s is a rare form of piercing since it does not conform to social norms.
Tongue piercing is generally performed in the middle of the tongue so that the nerves are not affected and there is little damage to the “webbing”, the portion beneath the tongue that links the tongue to the base of the mouth. The period for tongue piercing to heal completely is generally 4-6 weeks.
Bridge piercing
Bridge of the nose is the part of the body where bridge piercing is performed. Mainly, it is positioned between the eyes.
Eyebrow piercing is performed anywhere on the length of the eyebrow from straight over the eye to the periphery of the eyebrow.
A Nipple piercing is performed commonly at the bottom of the nipple.
Piercing the navel is a sort of body piercing that facilitates the placement of navel rings and other similar types of ornaments that are to be placed.
